A landscape of a thousand and one contrasts<\/h2>\n

The Penfoulic cove unfolds a kaleidoscope of fascinating landscapes, whatever the season. Marshes, mudflats, salt meadows, meadows, woods and hedgerows follow one another, creating a mosaic of colors and textures. The meeting of the fresh waters of the Pen Al Len river and the salt waters of the Atlantic Ocean gives rise to an exceptional biodiversity, a true paradise for nature lovers.
\nThis name comes from the Breton “pen” meaning point and “foul” meaning pond. It ends with the diminutive “ic”. Penfoulic thus means “the cove at the end of the small pond”. <\/p>\n

An unsuspected wealth of flora and fauna<\/h2>\n

Look up and watch the ballet of migratory birds. Grey herons, little egrets and mallard swans are just some of the winged inhabitants of the cove. At low tide, explore the mudflats and discover the secrets of marine life: crustaceans, shellfish and multicolored fish hide in the seaweed and rocks. <\/p>\n

Nuggets to discover<\/h2>\n

The Penfoulic cove is a real playground for young and old alike.
\nPut on your hiking boots and follow the tourist office itinerary for a family walk in the heart of nature. At the entrance to the Bois de Penfoulic, you’ll find a 650-metre-long path accessible to the disabled and awarded the “Tourisme & Handicap” label.
\nThen stop off at the conservatory orchard, where you can discover 204 varieties of local apples and pears. Admire the round house, once home to the on-call guard. And don’t miss out on the large, ancient dykes that protect the cove from the tides.
\nFor the more motivated, you can go fishing on foot at low tide, in search of hollow oysters, mussels, clams and prawns (check the regulations with the prefecture before taking the plunge). \"Map

Access and practical information<\/h2>\n

Penfoulic cove is easily accessible, with free parking nearby. Public toilets are also available on site. <\/p>\n

Dogs are allowed on site, but must be kept on a leash.<\/p>\n

L’anse de Penfoulic is a protected natural site. Please respect nature and leave no trace of your visit. <\/p>\n
