5 good reasons to visit South Finistère with your family

Southern Brittany is a magnificent region with lots of things to discover:

1. The beach

You don’t have to go far to enjoy the beach : it’s at the bottom of the campsite! The perfect opportunity for children to perfect their architectural skills by building sand castles, marble runs or tunnels!

In Kerleven, the beach is supervised in July and August, and the difference in height is very low, which makes it an ideal place for swimming. For young and old alike, it’s the perfect place to discover the sea in complete safety and make new outdoor experiences, splash around and jump in the waves.

You can even spend the evening on the beach counting shooting stars.

2. Nature

In Finistère, you will also find unspoiled nature just a stone’s throw from the seaside with landscapes of moors, forests and wild creeks.

The Glénan archipelago , in particular, is renowned for its exceptional natural landscapes. Why not organize a sea trip for the day? In summer, a departure towards the Glénan is proposed in Port-la-forêt, located close to the campsite. Who knows, you might be lucky enough to see dolphins.

If you prefer to stay on dry land, you will be spoiled for choice among the walks accessible from the campsite : A pair of binoculars to play explorers, a geo-caching application on your phone to motivate the most adults, and let’s go for the adventure!

3. Museums

If in addition to being adventurous your children are also very curious, they will be delighted by the possibilities of visits offered during the holidays by the museums of the region: Fishing MuseumMuseum of Fine Arts, Museum of Minerals, Prehistoric Interpretation Trail at Pors Pouhlan, Breton Departmental Museum in Quimper, Aquarium from Concarneau… all offer courses designed for the youngest. No time to get bored !

4. History

Brittany is also a whole heritage of legends and history. Over the centuries, the Bretons have transmitted their culture through songs, dances or even stories which have become the rule. Your little tribe will love attending a Fest Noz (Breton ball), at the fire of Saint Jean, or discovering the legend of the town of Ys, quoted submerged off the bay of Douarnenez (40 minutes from the campsite). You can also climb to the top of the richly decorated lighthouse of Penmarch and discover an exceptional panorama. This summer, you can even attend a nocturnal equestrian show ” Concarneau through the ages ” (Thursdays and Fridays in August).

5. Summer events

In Brittany, summer activities are not lacking around the campsite: Between the festival of the embroiderers of Pont L’Abbé, the Filets bleus in Concarneau, the Langoustine festival in Lesconil, and the free concerts of the butte du fort in Bénodet, enjoy your holiday evenings to have fun with the family. From July 7 to 9, the Festidreuz Festival returns to Fouesnant with 3 days of concerts and nearly 20 artists present for a family program.

In August, “Children are Princes” in Quimper also offers street performances, brass bands and creative workshops.
